Later, he completed medical school at Tufts University, along with an additional year-long fellowship in faith and medicine. Dr. Stafford did his residency training in internal medicine and pediatrics with the University of Southern California at LA County and USC Medical Center.
Throughout his medical training, Dr. Stafford has spent considerable time abroad, researching healthcare for the urban poor in South India and Nicaragua, and teaching public health and medicine in the Middle East.
In addition to the broad spectrum of Family Medicine, Dr. Turnure has sub-specialized in Neurological Rehabilitation for stroke, cerebral palsy and traumatic brain-injured patients. He is actively involved in researching the most effective techniques and modalities available in treating these conditions.
Dr. Turnure is constantly looking for ways to improve and continue his education. His motto is “one can never stop learning” thus he has a love for reading. By studying and listening to his patients he became convinced that many chronic illnesses like heart disease, many cancers, obesity, diabetes and high blood pressure could be prevented or treated through diet and exercise. Seeing a real need to learn more he started educating himself in the field of medical weight loss. In 2009 with the help of his daughter (Natasha, our Nutritionist), he started a Medical Weight Loss and Nutrition program at Turnure Medical Group. In 2012, he became Board Certified in the field of Obesity Medicine.
Cosmetic medicine is also a special interest of Dr. Turnure’s. In 2014 he opened La Bella Vita Medi Spa across the parking lot from the TMG office. La Bella Vita provides “state of the art” aesthetic medical procedures that produce the best possible non-surgical outcomes with very minimal downtime. See www.LaBellaVitaMediSpa.com for more information.
Dr. Turnure thoroughly enjoys spending time in the outdoors with his grown children, wife and grandchildren. He enjoys fishing, hunting, boating, snow skiing and running. He and Mrs. Turnure are also involved in leadership at Destiny Christian Church in Rocklin.
Dr. Hempstead is a true local, born and raised in Sacramento. She went to Loretto High School and attended American River College for two years before graduating from U.C. Davis with a degree in Chemistry, Summa Cum Laude. She also attended U.C. Davis for both medical school and her residency in Pediatrics. She loved the area so much that she chose to remain here, working at both Sacramento County Juvenile Hall and then at Kaiser Permanente Pediatrics in Roseville for about 12 years.
She then decided to stay home with her kids for a few years and focus on family life and volunteer work. She has served on several boards within the Eureka and Roseville Joint Union School Districts and continues to volunteer on several boards and committees in her children’s school districts. She is also a Deacon at her church and is active in caring for the hungry and homeless both locally and globally through volunteer work.
When Dr. Hempstead returned to practice, she found an exciting challenge in telemedicine, where she has worked for the last two years. However, she missed the direct physical connection with her patients. You will find she is an excellent communicator, with a love of children and deep empathy for the complexities of balancing childrearing, professional work, and other aspects of modern life.
On a personal note, Dr. Hempstead has three children of her own and loves cats. She enjoys anything to do with the outdoors, especially hiking and paddleboarding. She can’t wait to see your child in our office and looks forward to meeting you and working with your family.
